Cologne Media Exhibitions

Gamescom

Cologne Exhibition Centre, with the fourth largest exhibition facilities in the world and situated in an outstanding location overlooking Cologne Cathedral on the opposite bank of the Rhine, is an important driving force for the development of North Rhine-Westphalia as a media centre.

The Koelnmesse is continually developing its expertise in the communication, media and information technology sectors. Its portfolio ranges from the photokina, the world’s leading trade fair for the imaging sector, and the DMS Expo, Europe’s leading trade fair and conference for enterprise content and document management, to high profile congress events such as the medienforum.nrw and the ANGA Cable.
New trade fair formats also emphasise the importance of the company as leading trade fair organiser in the areas of communication, media and technology. With the ConLife congress and its associated exhibition on networked living, Cologne is now home to another successful event in addition to gamescom and dmexco. It is an example for ideal supplementation of the trade fair portfolio in the business areas of Communications & Media, as well as IT & Digital Entertainment.

Oliver P. Kurth

»Cologne is Germany’s undisputed media capital. This applies to both radio and TV as well as the new media sector. With this, the city and surrounding region are the ideal location for media and technology trade fairs from the many different sectors. In this combination, the city of Cologne and the Koelnmesse offer the visitors of the many trade fairs synergy effects which only the trade fair location of Cologne can offer. In brief, there are many convincing arguments which are in favour of Cologne and that the city will, also in the future, attract new topics and sectors.«

At photokina, the analogous world will meet the digital photography community.

With the gamescom trade fair, the greatest trade fair and event highlight for interactive games and entertainment goes into its se-cond round from 18th to 22nd August 2010. After its successful premier last year, with over 245,000 visitors and more than 450 exhibitors, the Cologne trade fair premises once more become the world’s greatest interactive playground. The whole trade fair area and the town of Cologne are focussed on the booming market of video and computer games. The successful gamescom concept reaches all gaming industry target groups – from developers and publishers to trade and intensive gamers to the dynamically growing group of casual and occasional gamers. While industry and vendors will ply their trade in the business centre, exhibitors in the entertainment area will present the whole world of interactive entertainment.
dmexco, the digital marketing exposition & conference, opens its gates on 15 and 16 September this year. dmexco was launched in Cologne last year, to become a very successful business trade fair with associated conference for the complete digital industry. With 290 exhibitors and 14,200 visitors, the modern concept proved its worth from the very first.
