This summer both educational and further education radio channels M94,5 (Munich) and Radio afk max (Nürnberg) and the television channel afk tv (Munich) have now celebrated their 10th anniversaries.
In 1995 the public utility company afk-GmbH and a separate afk Association were founded for each of the three channels. The limited liability company provides the educational and further education channels the required financial, technical and organisational support. Members of the associations include, in particular, the educational and further education institutions which produce the programmes for the afk channels. With the founding of afk-GmbH and the afk associations the conditions were created for commissioning the three afk programmes between April and July 1996.
The programme contents are prepared by the young media-makers under competent supervision and without pressure to achieve commercial success. The three channels offer prospective journalists, presenters, radio technicians, directors and producers not only an important orientation aid but may also be used for training or study as a springboard to later media careers. At the Munich Education Radio Channel M94,5 alone 1,300 students have collaborated in educational editing. Many of the young afk employees have found a position with private and public radio and television providers after completing their education and study.
