MedienCampus Bayern:Moving Towards the Digital Cross-media World |
|
|
State minister Siegfried Schneider, Fabienne Wittmann and Andreas Wallbillich in Québec 2010 |
Its 73 members cover a broad spectrum: from print to radio broadcasting, television and online down to film and gaming, the MedienCampus Bayern e. V. co-ordinates and cross-links vocational and advanced training in the media industry. In a time, when cross-medial thinking extends across all areas of the industry and media corporations, academies and universities are facing new challenges, its work has become more indispensable than ever before. In late summer of this year, Siegfried Schneider flew to the Canadian city of Montréal together with a business delegation. There, the executive chairman of the MedienCampus Bayern e. V. and Bavarian Media Minister visited several companies of the gaming sector, pointing out that »Québec is the Mecca of the gaming industry.« Mr Schneider‘s objective was to sound out opportunities for co-operation, as »the Free State of Bavaria offers ideal possibilities to also make a name for oneself in this media segment«. |
»Print, film, television, radio and gaming – all this is growing together on the Internet. Radio editors have to write orthographically correct news for the homepage, newspaper editors are shooting videos, and Internet users are lured to the homepage by means of a Sudoku game. For well-trained journalists and media technicians, who do not close their minds to technical innovations, this provides a great opportunity. The MedienCampus helps people find the appropriate vocational and advanced training offers.« Markus Kaiser, M.A., Office Manager of the MedienCampus Bayern e.V. |
In a round of talks held with Clément Gignac, the Minister of Economics of Bavaria‘s partner region Québec, Mr Schneider, who is also chief of the Bavarian State Chancellery, got down to business immediately when he declared: »Already by the end of this year, we wish to work out a co-operation concept in order to make specific progress in the areas of education, exchange in terms of vocational and advanced training and co-operation among companies, universities and funding organisations.« |
