Studio Location with Strong International Vibrancy

The Bavaria Film City in Geiselgasteig unites several dimensions, being a location for cinema film productions and TV productions at the same time. It is a vibrant media campus and a modern service center for the film and TV industry. And last but not least, it is one of the most popular tourist excursion destinations, which has turned into an absolute must for any sightseer visiting the state capital of Bavaria.

Ever since »Studio 12« with its surface area of 3,000 square metres was created ten years ago, one of Europe‘s largest soundstages exclusively reserved for cinema film productions has come into existence. For this purpose, the Bavaria Studios have set up expensive film settings. Europe‘s largest costume, furniture and stage prop stocks operator, the FTA Film- und Theaterausstattung is located in immediate proximity of the soundstages, as is the light, stage and camera department. As a result, the location provides for »one stop shopping« and thus fulfils what international film productions are seeking for whenever they wish to implement one of their projects.

Standard Decorations for Film and TV

The principle approach to offer all services for film and TV productions concentrated at one and the same location is continuously enhanced and adjusted to the changing production requirements. As it became ever more difficult to shoot film sequences on board of real airplanes, the Bavaria Studios constructed the interior settings of an aircraft one year ago. The range of standard decorations has been enlarged by a courtroom and a police station with a commissioner‘s office.
This makes the premises interesting especially for TV productions that require a setting quickly or wish to benefit from the production experience on site. Recently, preparations got underway for yet another series: from the autumn of this year onwards, Bavaria Fernsehproduktion will shoot a daily series with the working title »Herzflimmern – Die Klinik am See« several exterior settings and motifs of Geiselgasteig will be used for the new daily series in addition to the local studio facilities.
