Willi Steul, Director General of Deutschlandradio |
The nationwide broadcasting stations, Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio Kultur, are amongst the main media in Germany and can be favourably compared with the information and cultural stations of the English BBC or Radio France. In addition, the digital radio station DRadio Wissen has been on air with a young, fresh program since January 2010.Deutschlandfunk and Deutschlandradio Kultur achieve a third of the listenership of the upscale ARD stations. DRadio Wissen, on the other hand, has had a spectacular start, and is continuously registering increasing listener numbers. Programs on Deutschlandradio have a total of more than eight million regular listeners. DRadio Wissen is the new knowledge radio station for everyone who is particularly curious. Its range stretches from general knowledge to university-level science – always closely linked to the internet. The station can be heard digitally, via cable, satellite, DAB or at www.dradiowissen.de. |
